Heidelberg Materials has had a presence in the UK since 1999 – with three cement plants and a network of distribution depots. Click here to visit the UK website. The size of the UK business increased in 2007 with the acquisition of Hanson PLC, which included aggregates, ready-mixed concrete, and asphalt.

Heidelberg Materials UK is a leading supplier of heavy building materials to the construction industry in the UK with its headquarters in Maidenhead, Berkshire. Its core products are cement, aggregates (crushed rock, sand, and gravel), ready-mixed concrete, and asphalt.

Heidelberg Materials UK’s principal markets are in England and Wales and the central belt of Scotland. It operates around 300 production sites and employs about 3,500 people. It operates a series of depots and wharves, supplied by road, rail and sea, to ensure the efficient transfer of aggregates and cement to areas of greatest demand and where local materials are not readily available. Heidelberg Materials UK is structured with four main divisions – cement, concrete, aggregates and asphalt.

Heidelberg Materials UK Cement is also a leading manufacturer of cement, both in bulk and in bags, and produces Regen GGBS (ground granulated blast furnace slag) – a low-carbon cement replacement used in ready-mixed and precast concrete. Heidelberg Materials UK Packed Products manufactures a range of bagged cement, cementitious products and mortars.

Heidelberg Materials UK Aggregates produces and distributes aggregates – crushed rock, sand and gravel – from a network of over 70 quarries, depots, and wharves. The division includes Heidelberg Materials UK Aggregates Marine, Europe's largest producer of marine-dredged sand and gravel.

Heidelberg Materials UK Concrete is one of the UK’s largest suppliers of ready-mixed concrete from a network of around 160 static and mobile production plants.

Heidelberg Materials UK Asphalt and Contracting manages asphalt production sites and a national road surfacing and contracting business. It includes Midland Quarry Products, an aggregates and asphalt business based at Whitwick in Leicestershire.
