Mohakhali Flyover (Bangladesh)

13,000 tonnes of ScanCement for Bangladesh’s first flyover

The Mohakhali Flyover in Dhaka was the first of its kind in Bangladesh, and opened to traffic in November 2004.

The flyover has a total length of 1.12 kilometres, with a total of 19 pre-stressed box girder span segments. It features a 7.5 metre wide two-lane carriageway, with 0.6 metre footpath on either side. Ramps on both sides are supported and constructed on anchored retaining wall foundations.

China First Metallurgical Construction Company was awarded the tender for constructing the flyover, and ScanCement from HeidelbergCement Bangladesh was used exclusively for the project. A total of 13,000 tonnes of cement went into the flyover construction.
