House of Astronomy (Germany)
The architectural design of this building was inspired by the M51 spiral galaxy.
A self-bearing dome constructed of prefabricated ferroconcrete sections stands at the center of this impressive structure, which features a white facade and sweeping arms that curve ever more intensely toward the center. Eight exposed concrete pillars with a slight tilt bear a complex truss structure as well as four oversailing floors, assuring maximum flexibility for the design of interior spaces.
