Chancery Building – US Embassy (Greece)
Revitalising a Bauhaus icon
In June 2019, Heidelberg Materials' Greek subsidiary began delivering high-strength concrete for the renovation and rehabilitation of the historic Chancery Building, the Athens landmark that houses the US Embassy.
The original Chancery Building was designed by Bauhaus architect Walter Gropius and opened in 1961. Caddell Construction is currently renovating and upgrading the historic building. This large-scale project is expected to take approximately five years to complete.
Hot weather and heavy traffic make supplying ready-mixed concrete for this project a major challenge. Thanks to the good reputation of Heidelberg Materials, promoted by the large fleet of concrete mixer trucks and pumps, constant quality and outstanding know-how, the company has become a key supplier of ready-mixed concrete for major projects in the Attica region of Greece.
