Demand for building materials in the countries south of the Sahara saw largely positive development in 2021. The market environment was characterised by robust local economic development with a young and rapidly growing population, as well as increasing immigration to cities and urban areas.

A key indicator is the rising per capita consumption of cement, which is still significantly lower in the sub-Saharan countries than in more developed or industrialised countries. Our production sites, which are primarily located close to urban centers, are well positioned to serve the growing demand for building materials.
