Heidelberger Beton Kurpfalz is the first German ready-mixed concrete producer to receive the CSC certification

Heidelberger Beton Kurpfalz GmbH & Co. KG is the first ready-mixed concrete producer in Germany to receive the certification by the Concrete Sustainability Council (CSC). All nine plants of Heidelberger Beton Kurpfalz received the silver certification. It attests that the company produces concrete in an ecologically, socially and economically responsible way, also taking into account the value chain.

Heidelberger Beton, a subsidiary of HeidelbergCement, aims to obtain CSC certifications for further subsidiaries in Germany in 2018. In the Netherlands, all cement and concrete plants of the HeidelbergCement subsidiaries ENCI and Mebin were already certified in 2017.

With the internationally valid certification system, the CSC aims to further improve transparency of the concrete production process throughout the entire value chain as well as its social and environmental impact. In addition, future recognition by green building labels can be expected. Besides that, the CSC strives for consideration in procedures for the award of public works contracts.

The CSC certification system was started as a joint initiative between the Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI) and cement and concrete producers as well as industry associations and certification bodies. HeidelbergCement is one of the founding members of the CSC, and played a leading role in the development of the certification system.
